Irrigation Periods
Seedling Stage: After pineapple is planted, the soil should be kept moist to promote the rooting and growth of the young seedlings. Generally, immediately after planting, sufficient fixing roots water should be applied. Thereafter, according to the weather and soil moisture conditions, water should be applied once every 3 to 5 days until the young seedlings are established.
Vigorous Growth Stage: During this period, pineapples have a relatively large demand for water, and sufficient water supply should be ensured. Usually, irrigate once every 7 to 10 days to keep the soil moisture content at 60% to 70%. If there is a drought, the irrigation frequency should be appropriately increased.
Flowering and Fruiting Stage: At this stage, pineapples are relatively sensitive to water, and lack of water will affect fruit development. Generally, irrigate once every 5 to 7 days to keep the soil moist but not overly wet, so as to promote fruit expansion.
Fruit Maturity Stage: 1 to 2 months before the fruit matures, irrigation should be appropriately controlled to reduce the soil humidity, which is conducive to the accumulation of fruit sugars and the improvement of fruit quality. According to the actual situation, it can be irrigated once every 10 to 15 days to avoid excessive watering, which may lead to a light flavor of the fruit.
